Neale Johns
Since their inception in 1970, Blackfeather always had a reputation as innovators.
'Mountains of Madness', their first album, was certainly a testimony to that.
'Seasons of Change' became a classic, and the second 'Boppin the Blues'
was number 1 in the charts for 12 weeks, creating a second classic.
Blackfeather became one of the most overworked acts of their day.
Blackfeather soldiered on through a myriad of changes.
Throughout all these phases, there is one constant factor,
vocalist/songwriter Neale Johns.
After various adaptations of Blackfeather, Neale joined the ex-T-Rex band Fingerprint.
Fingerprint released a single 'Play Roulette'.
Neale had based himself in Melbourne, and through an old friend, drummer Trevor Young,
decided to try something new.
Trevor had played in Blackfeather and Fingerprint,
and both he and Neale found similar ideals in music.
Trevor introduced Neale to Brenden Mason of Madder Lake fame.
The combination of Neale, Trevor, Brenden and now Martyn has created a prolific
song-writing environment.
A high-energy, creative musical unit.
The bond that developed between Neale, Trevor, Brenden and Martyn, still exists today.
Blackfeather has had its own renaissance of interest in their first single 'Seasons of Change'
on German, French and South African radio.
We are looking forward to playing and creating some great new music.
